Birthplace Gardens
(at the Wake Forest Historical Museum)
The Wake Forest Garden Club maintains the garden beds on the grounds of the museum. Work days are scheduled for the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m. Members signup as stewards of a bed and can also attend to the bed at times convenient for them.
Flower Cart
Named Organization of the Year 2024
The Wake Forest Flower Cart is a working group of community volunteers who meet each Friday at St. John's Episcopal Church, 834 Durham Rd. Our dedicated group makes small flower arrangements in coffee mugs that are delivered to many confined in care facilities, and many that are home bound. We meet at 9:15 AM at the church. You are invited to join us any Friday you are available. You'll learn and enjoy making arrangements and have fun - bring a friend!
Forest Fest
This is a family-friendly event that celebrates the heart and history of Wake Forest. It is held annually in downtown Wake Forest. The WF Garden Club will be at our tent where we work on our goal to educate, and through demonstration of various practices such as mulching and pruning, how to make "good dirt”. We distribute seed packets and directions for good gardening practices.
Miller Park at Elm Street WF
Club members partner with the Town of Wake Forest to rehabilitate the park off of Elm Street. This ongoing project includes planting azaleas, bulbs and other native plants, and helping to maintain plantings.
Tri-Area Ministries Food Pantry
We partner with Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry to hand out container gardens. Each garden consists of one large container, a bag of dirt, plants, and seeds for fall planting, fertilizer, and instructions.
Station WCPE Grounds
The Wake Forest Garden Club is grateful for the partnership we have with WCPETheClassicalStation. We create and maintain their Pollinator Garden, while WCPE advertises the Garden Club's Garden Fundraisers.
Scholarships
The Wake Forest Garden Club has created two scholarships to encourage the local youth of Wake Forest to continue the study of plants in our environment and their impact on our lives and the planet. Two recipients, one senior student from Wake Forest High School and one senior student from Heritage High School, who is enrolled in classes in the horticulture program that includes courses in plant science and plant production, will be awarded a scholarship based on academic achievements and extracurricular accomplishments.
Winners will be chosen by the Wake Forest Garden Club Scholarship Committee from applications submitted. Monies will be paid directly to the four year college or two year college/ vocational program the student will be attending. The money will be sent directly to the recipient's chosen school.
Teacher Grants
Grants in the amount of $500 each are awarded to the Agriscience departments of Wake Forest High School and Heritage High School to supplement the curriculum of the department for the benefit of the students.
